Meet vik

Diagnosis: Ewing Sarcoma

Last Update: 12/7/21

In 2020, Vik was your average 16-year-old high school kid. He had good grades, participated in extracurricular sports, and had a part-time job. After months of living in pain, Vik was eventually diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. The tumor is in his pelvis, wrapped around his spine, and has metastasized to his lungs. This diagnosis rocked Vik and his family's world, but the treatment of Ewing Sarcoma has a high mortality rate.

Unfortunately, the Mayo Clinic in Arizona does not have a pediatrics department and referred the family to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to continue treatment and surgery. Vik is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments, enduring less pain, and the tumor is responding well. The current plan is to continue shrinking the tumor with chemotherapy and scheduling surgery to remove it next year in Minnesota.
